The first tree since 2004!

After a few years of omitting the tree tradition (which was a good practice for me in contentment and determining what is actually important), it's been reinstated! The girls and I adventured to a local tree farm and rode a hay wagon to the field. Evelyn would run up to 30 foot trees and yell, "THIS ONE, Mommmy! This one is PERFECT!" When I would tell her it was too big for our house, Amelia would find a tree whose top was at her eye level and say, "Dis one not too big." In the name of keeping it fun, we did not spend long looking. My only qualifications were tall and skinny so it could fit in our entryway w/out having to rearrange furniture. While the one we found fit the bill, Alan dubbed it our "foster tree" because it looked to him like a tree that might not have been first choice in someone else's home, which sounds perfect to me!

That night, after the girls went to bed, I hung the lights and breakable ornaments, saving the rest to do with the girls. I managed to capture their reaction first thing the next morning, and while it was more subdued than I expected, I LOVED Amelia's little exclamation!
