Why does Evelyn go to the Farmers' Market?

Why, to dance, of course. When Mr. Murdoff sees our girls on Saturday mornings, he greets them with his big smile and a huge, loud, warm, "Hey!! There they are! The dancers!" And then I smile, sigh, and breathe deeply. What a pleasure to watch pure, joyful self-expression happen.

And then, with quiet fullness, I go buy produce.

Look what's growing around here!

Our front yard's ornamental cherry trees are PERFECT for climbing. Arriving home is usually like this: turn off car. Tell girls to make sure they have all their stuff. Evelyn exits car. I exit car. Evelyn is in the tree, stuff on the ground. Amelia is still in the car. I tell Evelyn to get out of the tree and Amelia to get out of the car.

I am keenly aware of how temporary this is. It hits me every time I have a blogging lapse, because so much happens during that unrecorded time.

Go ahead, Evelyn, climb the tree. How many more years will you be doing that? Go ahead, Amelia, take your time getting out of the car. Sooner than I know you'll be DRIVING the thing, for crying out loud, and I'll be the one frozen in the back seat.

Little moments in time. Little girls in trees.
