That Day When...

....You hand your phone into the back seat so your administrative assistants can send a few texts on you behalf (since doing it yourself would win you a ticket...and not a winning ticket...)

...And one of your administrative assistants follows up the texting with a multitude of selfies. It's good to employ administrative assistants who possess a remarkably wide range of cuteness.

...You come home from work, your daughter welcomes you with a hug, and your husband says, "Hey, you guys match!"
So you pause in the kitchen and record the moment for posterity. And to think, back in the 70's, we had to have "Mother-Daughter Banquets" to achieve this. That's progress, baby. (It's also incredibly LUCKY for me, as my mom spent countless hours carefully sewing those matching outfits she and I used to wear, and all Evelyn and I had to do was, well, get dressed!)

Design Girls

This morning I could hear the girls in the kitchen talking. It sounded like this:

Amelia: I really don't like these countertops. I prefer granite.

Evelyn: I know, but it's really expensive. (Then a little discussion about gas vs. electric ranges.)

Do you think they've watched enough episodes of "Property Brothers?" :) At least, since we watch it on Netflix we can pause now and then to make comments such as:

- "You realize that double sinks in the bathroom are not a necessity?"
- "Keep in mind, people can still choose to get along and work it out even if they have to share bathrooms or a small kitchen."
- "A big house is just more space to clean and take care of."
"Remember, a kitchen can do everything it needs to do without granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances."

Hopefully we can be both well-entertained AND grounded in reality! I will say, it's a lot of fun to watch these shows as a family. :)
