Jesus had friends. And He wanted them around. In fact, He wanted them in the bleakest moments of His life, to pray with him; to be with Him. And, though they disappointed Him by falling asleep (and not just once), I still love that he wanted them there.
God walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden. ("In the cool of the evening." Isn't that lovely??) He liked being WITH them. He liked their company. That's why He made them: for Himself, and for one another.
I hope it is not too brash to assume that being made in God's image means liking being WITH people and having friends, walking "in the cool of the evening" just for the joy of it, and longing for someone to stay awake with you in the lonely, dark times.
Here's to friendship. :)
(And here's to the rockin' cool outfits in which my girls choose to hike the woods "in the cool of the evening.")

Ah...adorable outfits, for adorable girls. :)
You know...I've recently thought that sometimes we Christians act like God doesn't even like people. Isn't that weird? We look for every reason to alienate, to separate, to argue and to put each other down - usually in His name!
I believe that you are right - God LIKES people (loves them, really) and longs to be with them. He made US to want to be with other people, too. I am constantly becoming more aware of how grateful i am for friends!!!
Thank you for saying hello, Tina! :)
Oh, Holly--alienation, separation, and arguing happen so easily, don't they? And the closer we become to one another, the easier it is for that to happen because we're more likely to rub up against one another. But iron can't sharpen iron if it never comes in contact w/anything, right?
Here's to the beautiful, intimate, sharpening contact of the love of Jesus between friends! :)
