The Spirit of the Law

Today Evelyn was practicing Ephesians 6:1-3 (earning a candy cane. Don't ask how old the candy cane was, but know this: she enjoyed it immensely.) We were blessed enough to have Aunt Amy visiting from Oregon to witness it:

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Honor your father and mother, for this is the first commandment with a promise, 'that it may go well with you and that you may have loooooooooooooooooooooooong walks on the beach.'"

After recovering from our laughter, Amy, Alan and I decided that long walks on the beach would be a delightful reward for honoring our parents.

What a great story - was it a fun surprise to have Amy there? She and Amy take the best pics together. My goal at Christmas is to make sure that I get a photo with Evelyn.
Thanks for updating so regularly - I read each story at least twice, thinking that will make up for me not being present when they are ahppening.

How nice to hear from YOU!! We've thought of you a lot these days...we want to know how you're doing since going under the knife. Yes, it was awesome seeing Amy--Evelyn ran up to her at church & said, "Do you remember me?" A picture of her w/Aunt Jenny will be long anticipated!
