Evelyn loves to ask questions at bedtime. They most often start with phrases like, "When you were a little girl..." or "Did you ever feel like..." It's sweet. Her questions are really out of the blue, and we enjoy the time together.
However, I'm afraid I'm a bit of a disappointment when the tables are turned. Like tonight:
EVELYN: Ok, Mom. Now YOU ask ME questions. And make them GOOD--you know, like UNUSUAL questions.
ME: Hmmmm. Ok. So, have you ever felt a nervous feeling in your stomach but you weren't sure why?
EVELYN: (pause) Mom, really? That's not a very creative question.
ME: Ummm...did you ever think you could tell the future and you could see what you were going to be when you grew up?
EVELYN: (leaning her head back in frustration) MOM! No, I mean like ask really creative questions.
ME: (a little irritated) Did you ever play a game with someone where they wanted you to ask creative questions and every time you thought of one they shot you down until you didn't even want to play the game anymore?
EVELYN: (big grin) YES! Now THAT'S a good question!!
