The Day After Thanksgiving

The girls and I spent four hours at the Maryland Zoo. It would have been longer if I hadn't been so COLD! (They, of course, were fine.) One entire hour was spent at the giant tree slide. What is it about being outside that is so incredibly GOOD?

Perhaps John Muir has a finger on it: "Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves."

(Quote found in a lovely little picture book from Muir Woods in CA that my mom got me on our trip this past summer, "Muir Woods Meditations.")
